Who doesn't think of The Eiffel Tower whenever Paris is mentioned? Standing a mind blowing 324 meters high and weighing over 10,000 tons, this is the ultimate must see monument. Built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel, for the World Fair, this structure took over 2 years to be built. You can take the elevator, or if you're in really good shape, the stairs, to go to its 3 levels. The first level has a nice offer of souvenirs in its shops. The second level boasts a great restaurant called Jules Verne, and the third level has the most spectacular and panoramic view of the city.
Entrance fees go for 8.00 for elevator tickets up to the second floor, 1300 for tickets up to top floor, 4.5 for stair tickets up to the second floor. Kids under 4 may enter for free. Guided visits are also available, showcasing the original machinery controls for the elevators. The Eiffel Tower opens every single day of the year, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM (Jan. 1 June 17, Aug. 29 Dec.31), and from 9:00 AM to midnight (Jun. 18 Aug. 28). During the Easter weekend and spring break, the Tower is open until midnight.
